1. Fibre broadband in York

York holds a genuine place in British broadband history. In 2015 it was chosen for the first large-scale fibre-to-the-home network built in the UK by an operator other than the national incumbent — a deliberate test of whether an alternative full-fibre build could work commercially in an English city.
