How to cancel Sky Mobile

Leaving Sky Mobile is straightforward if you know which route you are taking. Most people who want to cancel Sky Mobile and move to another network should request a PAC code and let their new provider handle the switch. That is the fastest way to leave and keep your number.

If you are not joining another network, you will need to contact Sky Mobile directly and serve a notice period before the line is closed.

Sky Mobile runs on the O2 network, but your contract is with Sky — not O2. Request your PAC from Sky Mobile even if you are switching to O2 or an O2-based MVNO.

Getting your Sky Mobile PAC code

A Sky Mobile PAC code (Porting Authorisation Code) lets you take your phone number to a new provider. Sky issues the code — not a comparison site or your new network.

From your Sky Mobile phone, text PAC to 65075. Sky should reply by text within a minute with a nine-character code. The code is valid for 30 days. Requesting a PAC does not cancel your plan on its own; your contract ends when the port completes.

You can also request a PAC through the My Sky app or your online Sky account under Mobile settings. If you prefer to speak to someone, call Sky Mobile customer service from your Sky handset.

Leave Sky Mobile and keep your number

To leave Sky Mobile with your existing number, follow these steps:

  1. Text PAC to 65075 from your Sky Mobile SIM and save the code you receive.
  2. Choose a new SIM only deal from another provider. Browse SIM only deals or compare cheapest SIM only plans across networks.
  3. Give the PAC to your new provider when you sign up or order your new SIM. They start the port on your behalf.
  4. Keep using your Sky Mobile SIM until the switch date. Your number usually transfers within one working day.
  5. Your Sky Mobile plan ends automatically once the port is complete. You do not need a separate cancellation call.

Do not cancel your Sky Mobile contract manually before the port finishes. If you close the account first, you risk losing your number permanently.

How to cancel a Sky SIM without switching network

If you want to end your Sky Mobile service but are not moving to another provider, you need a standard cancellation rather than a PAC.

Contact Sky Mobile by phone, through the My Sky app, or via your online account. Sky requires at least 30 days' notice for this type of cancellation. You must keep paying your monthly charge until the notice period ends.

If you do not need your number, text STAC to 75075 instead. A STAC (Service Termination Authorisation Code) ends your service without porting the number. Give the STAC to a provider only if you are switching but do not want to keep the number.

Sky Mobile cancellation fees and notice period

Sky Mobile cancellation charges depend on where you are in your contract.

If you are still within your minimum term — usually 12 months on a SIM plan — Sky may apply an early termination charge for the remaining months. When you request a PAC, Sky should tell you if any fee applies before you commit to switching.

If your minimum term has ended, you can leave without an early exit fee. With a PAC, you pay only up to the date your number ports. There is no separate 30-day notice period when you switch using a PAC.

Outstanding device payments are separate from your airtime plan. If you bought a phone on credit through Sky, you may still owe the remaining balance even after your SIM plan ends. Check your Sky account for any device finance before you leave.

Rolling or 30-day plans can usually be cancelled with shorter notice, but confirm the terms on your latest bill or in the My Sky app.

Choosing a new SIM only deal

Once you have your PAC, compare plans from other networks before you hand the code over. SIM only deals are typically cheaper than handset contracts and suit most people who already own their phone.

For maximum flexibility, look at 30-day SIM only deals so you are not locked in again. If you prefer a lower monthly price in exchange for a commitment, 12-month SIM only deals often beat rolling plans on cost per gigabyte.

Sky Mobile is separate from Sky broadband and TV

Cancelling Sky Mobile does not cancel Sky broadband, Sky TV, or any other Sky subscription you hold. Each product has its own contract and cancellation process.

If you only want to leave your mobile plan, follow the PAC or STAC steps above. Your home broadband and TV services will continue unless you cancel those separately.

The same applies in reverse — leaving Sky TV or broadband does not close your mobile account.

What happens after you cancel

Once your number has ported or your notice period has ended, your Sky Mobile SIM stops working. You can remove it from your phone and activate your new SIM.

Sky should send a final bill covering any usage up to the switch or cancellation date, plus any early termination charge if one applied. Check that the final amount matches what Sky quoted when you requested your PAC.

Any Sky Mobile perks — such as data rollover or Piggybank rewards — end when your plan closes. Download anything you need from your account before the service stops.

If you change your mind after requesting a PAC but before giving it to a new provider, simply do nothing. The code expires after 30 days and your Sky Mobile plan continues as normal.
