A single place for live TV and streaming
BT is rolling out BT TV from 15 October, promising one interface that pulls together live channels, catch-up, recordings and third-party streaming apps. The move completes the provider’s home bundle of broadband, mobile and now television under a single brand.
Two boxes, different needs
Households can choose the BT TV Box Pro, which records more than 600 hours and lets viewers pause or rewind live TV, or the smaller BT TV Box Edge aimed at simpler on-demand viewing. Both sit on top of BT’s existing broadband connection and share a single search that surfaces content across services.
What the launch means for customers
The service is aimed at people who already trust BT for broadband and want fewer log-ins and remotes. It is one of the few UK options that keeps live sport and linear channels alongside streaming in the same menu. No contract lengths or monthly prices appear in the announcement, so anyone interested should check current broadband and TV deals directly.
The provider’s view
Luciano Oliveira, Managing Director Products, Consumer, BT, said: “Finding something great to watch shouldn’t mean navigating a maze of apps, subscriptions and devices. We’ve designed BT TV to bring customers’ entertainment and sport together, making it easier to find what they love, and giving them the freedom to watch live, record their favourites and catch-up when it suits them. Combined with BT broadband, it gives customers a simpler, more complete connected experience from the provider they know and trust.”
