Heat pump and solar sign-ups surge at E.ON Next ahead of winter

Households are turning to low-carbon tech to cut bills, with sign-ups more than doubling year on year

Heat pump and solar interest doubles

Households signing up for heat pumps with E.ON Next rose 154% year on year, while solar sign-ups climbed 145%. The jump comes as people look for ways to lower bills and reduce reliance on gas and grid electricity before winter sets in.

Government data shows August was a record month for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, with heat pump grant payments up 40% on the previous year. Both heat pumps and solar shift where energy comes from: heat pumps draw warmth from outside air, while solar lets homes generate and export their own power.

Optimise savings for solar households

E.ON Next customers with solar and battery storage can save up to £637 a year using Next Optimise. The system automatically charges the battery at low wholesale prices and exports when rates rise, without any manual monitoring.

The supplier also reported that customers on its Next Smart Saver tariff have collectively saved an estimated £3.2 million by shifting use to cheaper times of day.

£500 heat pump discount runs until November

To mark National Heat Pump Week (12-16 October), E.ON Next is offering eligible customers £500 off a Worcester Bosch air source heat pump. The discount applies to quotes created between 12 October and 1 November 2026, with purchases to be completed by 1 December. Full eligibility rules and terms apply.

Gráinne Regan, Propositions Director at E.ON Next, said: "Saving money is the thing customers raise with us more than anything else, and with prices where they are, people aren't waiting for that to change. They're putting in heat pumps, installing solar panels and taking control of what their home costs to run."

Our job is to make that investment pay off. A home heating itself without gas and generating its own electricity keeps far more of the value it creates – giving households greater control over their energy costs."
