Hannah Blackwood holding a Google Pixel 11 Pro XL

In short: The Pixel 11 Pro XL is Google's biggest and best non-folding phone of 2026. It launched on 20 August 2026 at £1,279 for 256GB, and it shares its Tensor G6 chip and entire camera system with the smaller Pixel 11 Pro. What it adds is a 6.8in 3,600-nit LTPO display, a 5,115mAh battery and — uniquely in this year's range — 45W wired charging, up from 30W. That combination makes it the longest-lasting Pixel: PCMag's battery test recorded 15 hours 47 minutes, against 13 hours for the Pro and 12 hours 35 minutes for last year's Pixel 10 Pro XL. It scored 4.0 out of 5, praised for its display and cameras but marked down for a price rise and a drop to 12GB of RAM on the base model.

Live UK Pixel 11 Pro XL deals are listed on this page. Below is what the extra size actually gets you, how it compares with the Pro, and whether it's worth upgrading from a Pixel 10 Pro XL.

1. When did the Pixel 11 Pro XL come out?

The Pixel 11 Pro XL was announced on 12 August 2026 and went on sale in the UK on 20 August 2026, launching alongside the Pixel 11, the Pixel 11 Pro and the foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Google's wider launch history is covered on our main Pixel 11 guide.

2. How much does the Pixel 11 Pro XL cost?

The Pixel 11 Pro XL starts at £1,279 SIM-free — £80 more than the Pixel 10 Pro XL's £1,199 launch price. Google attributes the increase across the range to component shortages, memory in particular.

ModelStarting UK RRP
Pixel 11£879
Pixel 11 Pro£1,079
Pixel 11 Pro XL£1,279

The 256GB model comes with 12GB of RAM. As on the Pro, 16GB is only available if you also step up to 512GB or 1TB of storage, which pushes the price up considerably. Worth knowing before you compare listings.

As ever, pay-monthly and SIM-free deals beat Google's own pricing, and the offers on this page reflect what UK networks are charging today.

4. Pixel 11 Pro XL vs Pixel 11 Pro: which should you buy?

The two Pro models run the same Tensor G6 chip and exactly the same three rear cameras and 42MP selfie camera. Photo and video quality is identical. The differences are size, stamina and charging — and this year that last point is a bigger deal than usual.

  • The Pro XL is the only 2026 Pixel with faster charging. Google quotes up to 75% in 30 minutes, and PCMag measured 77% in 36 minutes. Every other model in the range is still on 30W.
  • It lasts noticeably longer. In PCMag's rundown test the Pro XL managed 15 hours 47 minutes versus 13 hours for the Pro. Google quotes 30 hours or more of mixed use, and the reviewer recorded 30 hours 21 minutes in real-world use.
  • The screen is bigger and sharper, at 6.8in and 1344 x 2992 versus 6.3in and 1280 x 2856. Both peak at 3,600 nits and both drop to 1Hz.

The honest read: if you can live with a 226g phone, the Pro XL is the better buy — you're paying £200 for a bigger screen, and getting a substantial battery and charging upgrade thrown in. Choose the Pixel 11 Pro if one-handed use genuinely matters to you, but go in knowing you're giving up real battery life. And if you don't need the Pro camera system at all, the standard Pixel 11 saves £400 and still has a 5x optical zoom.

5. Pixel 11 Pro XL vs Pixel 10 Pro XL: should you upgrade?

The upgrade case is stronger here than anywhere else in the range. Despite a slightly smaller cell, the Pro XL lasted more than three hours longer than its predecessor in PCMag's test, and charging is 50% faster. The new MediaTek M90 modem also supports dynamic carrier aggregation, combining multiple 5G channels for higher throughput.

Against that: base RAM drops from 16GB to 12GB, the temperature sensor has gone, the price is up £80, and the design is a very light refresh — the main visible change is an all-glass, blacked-out camera bar in place of last year's dual-tone metal-and-glass one.

If you own a Pixel 10 Pro XL, the battery and charging gains are the only compelling reasons to move, and probably not enough on their own. From a Pixel 9 Pro XL or older, it's a clear upgrade.

6. Performance: fast where it counts, slow where it doesn't

The Tensor G6 is built around Google's AI workloads rather than benchmark scores, and it shows. In Geekbench 6 the Pro XL scored 2,755 single-core and 7,563 multi-core — a solid gain on the Pixel 10 Pro XL's 2,340 and 6,430, but well behind Snapdragon-powered rivals.

Graphics is where the gap is widest. The G6 reuses the same PowerVR GPU as last year's G5, and in 3DMark's Wild Life Extreme test the Pro XL managed 3,605 frames at 21.59fps — roughly half the frame rate of the fastest Android flagships. Demanding 3D games are playable but not smooth at high settings; casual games are completely fine.

In everyday use none of that is noticeable. Reviewers consistently describe the Pixel 11 range as fluid and responsive, and the chip is more thermally stable than several high-end Qualcomm parts, losing under 25% of its performance during extended sessions.

7. Cameras: still the best computational photography

The Pro XL's camera hardware is shared with the Pixel 11 Pro: a 50MP f/1.68 main sensor, a 48MP f/1.7 ultrawide with Macro Focus, and a 48MP f/2.8 periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom. The main and telephoto sensors are new this year, with the larger telephoto sensor delivering cleaner 5x shots in low light.

The more substantial changes are in software:

  • Instant Night Sight captures night shots roughly twice as fast as the Pixel 10 Pro XL, with sharper results. It isn't truly instant — you'll still get a hold-still timer — but the shorter exposure meaningfully reduces blur.
  • Super Zoom combines the 5x lens with digital cropping and AI to reach up to 120x. It sharpens results convincingly, though at the extreme end the output is, as PCMag put it, "more math than photo".
  • Magic Capture records video and picks the best still frames automatically, applying edits like unblur and auto-crop. Useful, but inconsistent enough that you'll still press the shutter yourself for important shots.
  • Camera Looks are new colour profiles — velvet, digi, editorial, minimal and more — that work like film simulations, with sliders for grain, tint and highlights.

Video records at up to 4K/60fps natively. The 8K option requires enabling Video Boost before recording, which uploads the footage to Google's servers for processing.

8. Software and AI

The Pro XL ships with Android 17 and gets seven years of OS versions, security patches and quarterly Pixel Drops — matching Samsung and beating almost everyone else, with faster rollouts in practice.

New AI features include Rambler, a Gemini-powered dictation tool built into Gboard that cleans up speech into polished sentences and handles bilingual input, and expanded Gemini automation across 40-plus third-party apps. Both rely on the cloud for full functionality, and reviewers found the app automation slower and less reliable than doing the task yourself.

HiLight — the ring of LEDs around the camera flash — pulses in one of five colours for incoming calls and Gemini activity. It only works with the phone face down, and Google has said it has no plans to open it to third-party apps for now. It is comfortably the weakest new feature in this year's range.

9. Pixel 11 Pro XL deals: what to look for

The deals on this page update automatically. When comparing them:

  • Compare total contract cost, not the headline monthly price — long 36- and 48-month plans with low monthlies often total more.
  • Check the RAM and storage. The £1,279 model has 12GB of RAM; 16GB requires 512GB or 1TB of storage. Network listings don't always make the distinction obvious.
  • Trade-in values were highest at launch. EE and Vodafone both ran four-figure headline savings during the pre-order period, and those offers narrow over time.
  • SIM-free plus a SIM-only plan is often the cheapest route if you can cover the handset cost upfront.
