Upgrades Land at Peak Holiday Time
O2 has switched on improved 4G and 5G at seven Haven holiday parks as October half-term gets underway. The work, done with Haven and Freshwave, lifts capacity at Marton Mere in Blackpool, Burnham-on-Sea, Perran Sands, Devon Cliffs, Littlesea, Seaview and Rockley Park. Holidaymakers and nearby residents should notice fewer drop-outs when sharing photos, streaming or checking travel apps.
£700m Network Push Continues
These park fixes form part of O2’s Mobile Transformation Plan, which is spending around £700 million this year on coverage and reliability. The same programme is already rolling out AI tools to squeeze more performance from existing masts. We covered an early trial of that technology last week.
Who Benefits and What to Check
Steven Verigotta, Director of Mobile Delivery at O2, said: “Holidays are when people want their phones to simply work, whether they are sharing photos, streaming entertainment, checking the weather or keeping in touch with family back home. These upgrades are improving the mobile experience at some of the UK’s busiest holiday destinations, giving O2 customers more reliable connectivity when demand is highest.”
Anyone on O2 or a reseller network can test speeds on arrival; no extra charge applies. If you’re on another network the upgrades may still help through shared masts, though results vary. For the latest mobile deals and coverage checks head to our mobile phones section.
