Bigger servers, more headroom
IPVanish has finished a two-year overhaul that lifted average per-server throughput by 41%. Every server now runs on 50 Gbps ports, five times the previous 10 Gbps capacity. The extra room helps when lots of users stream or work at peak times, so connections stay steadier instead of slowing under load.
Shorter paths through better peering
The provider now peers directly at more than 40 internet exchanges. That change puts its servers closer to the networks most customers actually use, cutting unnecessary hops and transit delays. The firm says the move matters more for real-world speeds than raw server counts alone.
Extra reach and built-in backup
The network now covers 150 locations across 55 countries. In major cities it runs two separate data centres with different providers, so an outage at one site does not drop users offline. It also switched to NFTables for lighter processing and added OpenVPN Data Channel Offload on Windows to close the speed gap with other protocols.
What this means when you connect
These upgrades give more breathing space on busy connections without promising extra bandwidth your line does not already have. The work lines up with the habits we covered during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, when we looked at simple steps that keep daily use safer.
