What has already landed
Proton VPN has grown its network to 149 countries and 196 locations, including new smart routing servers aimed at China. A rebuilt connection system now powers faster links that are tougher to block on most platforms. Linux users gained Stealth protocol support, automatic language switching and an official Snap package, while iOS gained Shortcuts and Automations so connections can start with Siri or by location. Windows gained the ability to exclude entire countries or regions from the fastest-server picker. Independent auditors have again confirmed the no-logs policy for a fifth year.
What is coming next
The focus now shifts to making the service feel effortless on every device. macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Linux apps will receive the same clean layout already seen on Windows and Android. A smarter kill switch is being strengthened on Linux, macOS and iOS, and Proton protocols will bring an advanced version to macOS that blocks all traffic unless the VPN is active. A new Pause and Resume option will let users set a timer so the VPN reconnects automatically after a short break. Guest mode, already on mobile, is heading to Windows so people can try the free servers without creating an account. Linux support will expand to Mint, Arch and Flatpak packages.
Business tools and wider context
Teams using Proton VPN for Business will soon see real-time alerts in the admin dashboard plus finer access controls and new reporting. Site-to-site connections are also planned. These updates arrive as Proton VPN has already seen rising demand in places facing sudden blocks, such as Azerbaijan. For the latest UK options, see our VPN hub.
