Free hours for flexible use
EDF has rolled out Flextras, a new loyalty scheme that rewards households for moving electricity use away from weekday peak times. Sign-up through the EDF app brings an automatic four hours of free electricity for eligible smart-meter customers, with the chance to earn up to 25 free hours a month via the Weekend Saver element.
Members who keep less than 18% of their weekly usage inside the 4-7pm window on Monday to Friday qualify for free hours; those below 9% hit the maximum. EDF expects around 70% of participants to earn rewards by cutting peak use by just 15%, roughly the equivalent of running a dishwasher outside peak hours six times a month. Earned hours can be redeemed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Wider rewards and referrals
Flextras also bundles a 12-month tastecard membership for dining and leisure discounts, plus Power Perks free-electricity periods for customers on certain smart time-of-use tariffs when renewable supply is high. The Refer a Friend scheme gives both parties £50 account credit with no limit on referrals, provided the new customer has not been with EDF in the past 12 months.

Who can join and what to watch
You need the EDF app, a compatible smart meter with half-hourly consent, and an eligible tariff (time-of-use tariffs are excluded from Weekend Saver). Free hours are credited the month after they are earned. Full eligibility rules and terms sit in the app.
