Centrica Energy and Delta Capacity have signed a partial tolling agreement for the Karppio battery energy storage system in Teuva, Finland. The 125 MW / 300 MWh standalone project was bought ready-to-build from Helios Nordic Energy and is being built by Delta Capacity, which will also manage it long-term. The Strioga Family Foundation is developing it alongside them.
How the agreement works
Under the deal Centrica Energy will optimise and trade the battery across Nordic power markets, using its 24/7 trading desk to capture value in wholesale, balancing and ancillary services. The structure gives the project secured revenues while leaving room for extra merchant upside. Commissioning is due in Q4 2027.
What the project will deliver
Once running, Karppio will help Finland’s power system with frequency regulation, balancing and the integration of more renewable generation. The move builds on an earlier partnership: Centrica already optimises Delta Capacity’s Ånge BESS in Sweden, currently the largest operating battery in the Nordics at 70 MW / 160 MWh.
