More than 500,000 homes have switched to Octopus Energy so far in 2026. That figure matches the combined households of Manchester, Coventry and Leicester. The surge takes the supplier to 14.74 million domestic meter points and roughly 26% of Britain’s home energy market.
Ten Years of Growth
Octopus launched in 2016 as a small British startup. It now ranks as the UK’s largest energy supplier, the first new entrant to reach the top since competition began in the 1990s. The company marks its tenth anniversary this year.
