Tower Hamlets rolls out rapid chargers
Tower Hamlets Council has teamed up with charge point operator Believ to install more than 70 rapid and ultra-rapid EV chargers at 35 locations. The first 17 are already live, the biggest single rapid deployment Believ has completed so far. The project is fully funded by Believ and forms part of the borough’s Climate Emergency Plan.
Ninety-three per cent of homes in the area lack off-street parking, so most residents rely on public points. The new chargers are aimed at locals, commuters, taxis and fleet vehicles.
How the new points fit with home charging
Councillor Shafi Ahmed, Cabinet Member for a Clean and Green Borough, said: "Expanding our public charging network is a vital part of making electric vehicle ownership a realistic option for more people in Tower Hamlets."
