Payments Already Hitting Accounts

E.ON Next has started crediting £150 Warm Home Discount payments to 565,000 eligible customers. The credits appear directly on electricity accounts so households can use the money straight away. The supplier plans to keep issuing payments through to the end of March 2027 for anyone newly identified by the government.

Who Qualifies This Winter

The scheme targets people on certain means-tested benefits. In England and Wales this is the Core Group only. Scotland also has a Broader Group for extra households. Core Group customers should hear from the government by January 2027. Anyone who thinks they qualify but has not been contacted can check the official Warm Home Discount site or apply directly with E.ON Next if they are in Scotland’s Broader Group.

Extra Support on Offer

Ramona Vlasiu, Chief Operating Officer at E.ON Next, said: “For a number of years, we’ve worked to apply Warm Home Discount payments to eligible customers’ bills as early as possible, so they can benefit as winter approaches. We know many households are already carefully managing their finances, and the colder months can bring added pressure as energy use increases to keep homes warm. We also have a range of support available to customers who need it. Depending on their circumstances, support can include direct financial help, affordable repayment plans and access to specialist advice.”

This sits alongside E.ON Next’s push on heat pumps and solar as households look for longer-term ways to cut costs. You can compare current tariffs and support options on our energy pages.
