E.ON Next has become the first big supplier to get more than 90% of its residential and small business customers onto Market-wide Half Hourly Settlement (MHHS). That’s the new system that measures your electricity use every half hour instead of once a month.
We reckon this is a proper step towards the flexible energy future the government keeps talking about. With better data, suppliers can offer more time-of-use tariffs that reward you for using power when it’s cheap and green – think charging an EV overnight or running the dishwasher after 10pm.
What customers are already seeing
- Hundreds of thousands of E.ON Next customers are already shifting usage and saving money.
- People on their Next Smart Saver tariff have cut peak-time demand by 16% on average.
- One customer, Tanya from West Yorkshire, says switching to Next Drive Smart dropped her EV charging cost from £8 to £3 overnight.

For business customers it’s a step towards turning clean energy into a competitive edge.”
