We've just had positive news from Hampshire: British Solar Renewables has won its planning appeal for the 29MW Lower Wyke Solar Park.
What the inspector decided
The scheme was turned down by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council last year, but the Planning Inspector ruled that the project's renewable energy, biodiversity and wider public benefits outweighed the identified harms.
A standout feature was the promise of 217% Biodiversity Net Gain – way above the 10% minimum required under the Environment Act 2021.
