More Indian stories heading to Netflix
Netflix and hoichoi have signed a two-year deal that will bring 14 hoichoi series to the streamer in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The titles include crime thrillers, detective stories, folklore horror and courtroom dramas such as Madam Inspector, Eken Sirji and Parineeta: A Love Story. UK subscribers who enjoy South Asian content will now find these shows dubbed and ready to watch alongside Netflix originals.
First new release lands in November
The partnership starts with The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi, a folklore horror series starring Jeetu Kamal, Solanki Roy and Paoli Dam. It premieres on Netflix on 6 November at the same time as its Bengali debut on hoichoi. Further new hoichoi productions will follow in the coming months, all arriving in the three additional languages.
Original adaptations also planned
The two companies will co-develop original series that reimagine selected hoichoi stories with new creative teams. Details on the first projects are still to come. Netflix says the move forms part of its wider push to add licensed content and reach an audience approaching one billion people worldwide.
What it means for viewers
For anyone already paying for Netflix, the extra shows arrive at no extra cost and expand the range of dubbed Indian drama available on the service. The content is aimed primarily at viewers in India, yet the global platform means UK households can access the same library.
