Fresh medical drama arrives next month
Netflix has released the official trailer for Miracles of the ER, Taiwan’s first emergency-room series. The eight-episode show follows rookie doctors and their senior colleagues at Yang-Da University Hospital as they handle life-or-death cases, hospital politics and grieving families. It premieres worldwide on 12 November.
The story centres on three first-year residents guided by two experienced physicians. Early scenes show the pressure of a botched intubation, failed resuscitations and tense confrontations with relatives. The key art places the five leads around a patient’s bedside, underlining that every decision must be made in seconds.
Cast and creative team
Wallace Huo plays senior doctor Chou Cheng-chun and Cheryl Yang portrays He Yu-hua. Kent Tsai, Chan Tzu-hsuan and Payne Peng take the roles of the new residents. The series reunites the team behind Tears on Fire, with Isaac Li directing and Huang Ching-tsu writing.
Huo said: “Being a doctor, like being a person, means staying true to what first inspired you. You have to keep reminding yourself why you chose medicine: to help people and save lives.”
Yang added that the role explores when a doctor’s instinctive calm begins to crack under pressure.
Who it suits
The drama draws on real ER observations to show the balance between professional distance and emotional numbness. It should appeal to viewers who like character-driven medical stories that mix high-stakes procedures with the personal doubts doctors carry outside the hospital.
