A new Korean series joins the Netflix slate
Netflix has confirmed it is moving ahead with The Shooter (WT), an action noir series from director Lee Kwon. The show stars Lee Jung-eun as Jeong Suk-ja, a woman in her seventies who returns to violence after her grandson is attacked. She teams up with Kim Moo-yul’s character Seo Yeon-woo to take on the powerful Chunghwa Group. The eight-strong cast also includes Huh Joon-ho, Choi Sung-eun, Bae Na-ra, Seo Hyun-woo and Moon Jong-won. Production is handled by Studio Dragon.
What the story delivers
The plot follows Suk-ja as she uncovers secrets inside the conglomerate while navigating an uneasy partnership with Yeon-woo. Lee Jung-eun’s role marks her first action performance after acclaimed turns in Light Shop and the film My Daughter Is a Zombie. Kim Moo-yul reunites with her four years after Juvenile Justice. The series promises twists, shifting motives and a hard-edged tone from the team behind A Shop for Killers.
Where UK viewers can watch
The Shooter (WT) will stream exclusively on Netflix once complete. For the latest on upcoming Netflix titles and how they fit different viewing habits, see our TV hub. No UK premiere date has been announced yet, so the project remains in the early production stage.
