South Korea’s Oscar Contender
South Korea has chosen Possible Love as its official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards. The Korea Film Council praised the film’s quality, visual craft and director Lee Chang-dong’s skill at revealing complex human relationships.
What the Story Involves
The plot follows two married couples whose lives intersect while filming a documentary. Mi-ok and Ho-seok, a couple worn down by hardship, meet Ye-ji, a documentary maker, and her husband Sang-woo. A shared summer trip brings old wounds and hidden desires to the surface. The four lead actors are Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Cho Yeo-jeong and Zo In-sung.
Festival Run and Cinema Dates
The film premiered in competition at the Venice International Film Festival and has also been selected for Toronto, New York, San Sebastián, Zurich and Vancouver festivals. It opens in Korean cinemas on 23 September, Australia on 22 October, and the UK on 23 October.
