The Updated Tariffs

E.ON Next has cut the overnight rate on Next Drive Smart to 6.5p/kWh between midnight and 6am. The same window now applies to all household electricity use, not just the car. Next Drive Fixed sees its off-peak rate fall to 8.5p/kWh. Both tariffs carry no exit fees.

Savings Against the Price Cap

Drivers covering 8,000 miles a year at 3.33 miles per kWh could save an average ยฃ476 on Next Drive Smart or ยฃ428 on Next Drive Fixed versus charging at the current Ofgem price cap rate of 26.32p/kWh. The figures assume smart-charging mode and direct-debit payment. Actual bills depend on exact mileage, regional rates and whether any boost charging occurs outside the cheap window.

Eligibility and Extras

A half-hourly smart meter with consent, an eligible EV and a compatible home charger are required. Customers who do not use the smart-charging feature pay the day rate of 34.04p/kWh for any peak-period use. New sign-ups also receive a free one-year Zoom EV subscription and a Woodland Trust donation. E.ON Next has separately announced support measures including the Energy Fund and Priority Services Register for households struggling with bills.

How It Fits With Earlier E.ON Next Offers

This follows E.ON Next's recent move to bring forward Warm Home Discount payments for 565,000 households. Check your eligibility and compare the full terms on our energy comparison page before switching.
