E.ON Next to Pass Every Penny of the VAT Cut Straight to Customers

From 1 October, electricity bills for E.ON Next customers on fixed and variable tariffs will drop automatically.

20 July 2026 · Oliver Hartnell · E.ON Next

The Government’s decision to scrap VAT on electricity from October is landing in customers’ pockets, and E.ON Next has confirmed it’s passing on every penny.

We think that’s exactly how it should work. The savings will be applied automatically, so there’s nothing for customers to do.

A spokesperson for E.ON Next said: “ Every step the Government takes to support energy customers is something we welcome. Our electricity customers can expect to see the removal of VAT reflected in their bill from 1 October.”

If you’re with E.ON Next, your next bill should simply reflect the lower rate. For everyone else, it’s a good time to check your own energy deal and see whether switching could save you even more.

You can read the official announcement on the GOV.UK site or keep an eye on updates from Ofgem.
