Festival buzz and release timeline
Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love will reach UK viewers on Netflix from 6 November. The film first opens in Korean cinemas on 23 September, then Australia on 22 October and the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Japan on 23 October. After those theatrical windows it becomes available worldwide on the streaming service.
What the story explores
The plot follows two married couples whose lives intersect when a documentary filmmaker decides to film one of the pairs. A laid-off worker and his wife, alongside the filmmaker and her husband, confront their choices, desires and the gaps between their realities. The date poster shows the two female leads standing apart under moonlit trees, hinting at the tensions ahead.
Strong Korean cast and eight-year wait
This marks Lee’s first feature in eight years and brings together Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong. The project has already secured Competition slots at the Venice International Film Festival and Special Presentations at Toronto, giving UK audiences an early chance to see a high-profile Korean drama without waiting for awards season.
