A Neighbourhood Comedy Arrives
Netflix has announced Chumbak, a new feel-good series set in a contemporary urban Indian neighbourhood. The show follows five families whose lives overlap in the kind of everyday chaos where neighbours borrow sugar, drop in unannounced and turn small moments into big affairs. It premieres on 28 August and is aimed at audiences who enjoy warm, multi-generational humour.
What the Series Brings
The story centres on unofficial problem-solvers, enthusiastic advice-givers and lovable gossip enthusiasts who treat the street like an extended family. Themes include contemporary marriages, modern parenting and ageing friendships, all wrapped in the signature wit of writers Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia. Their earlier hits Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi already proved popular across generations, and this project continues that style.
