A Real Case Hits Screens First
Netflix will premiere the documentary Unprotected: Murder in Galicia on 6 November. The film examines the 2015 killing of Isabel Fuentes in the Galician village of Pazos, Verín, and the failures that left her unprotected even after she survived an initial attack.
Produced by True Crime Factory, it draws on interviews with investigators, doctors, family and neighbours to trace how a suspected burglary escalated into murder inside a hospital room 37 days later.
The Director’s Take
“When I first learned about Isabel Fuentes’ story, what struck me most was not only the crime itself, but an uncomfortable question I could not explain: How was it possible for her to be murdered in a hospital when it was known that she was in danger?”, says Jorge Laplace, director and writer.
Tied to the Upcoming Drama
The documentary arrives one week before the three-part scripted series Murder in Galicia, which dramatises the same events and starts on 13 November. We covered that series launch last week. Both projects come from the same underlying case and are aimed at viewers interested in Spanish true-crime stories.
