Landmark Content Pact
Netflix and Globo have signed their biggest licensing agreement to date. From December, 18 original Globo productions will arrive on the platform, dubbed and subtitled in multiple languages. The package covers 14 films, three telenovelas and one series, with rights split across different territories. Titles will continue to drop through mid-2027.
Standout Titles and Territories
Walter Salles’ I’m Still Here, the 2025 Academy Award winner for Best International Feature, is licensed for Brazil only. Vitória, starring Fernanda Montenegro, gets worldwide distribution. The 2009 Emmy-winning telenovela India – A Love Story heads to the US and Latin America excluding Brazil, while seven seasons of comedy series Vai Que Cola stay exclusive to Brazil.
What It Means for UK Viewers
This move brings more Brazilian storytelling to Netflix’s global catalogue, including the UK. Our TV section tracks how these additions sit alongside other new arrivals. "We hope this agreement is just the first step in a long partnership between two companies that share the ambition, creative craftsmanship and commitment to take Brazilian culture even further," said Elisabetta Zenatti, Vice President of Content at Netflix Brazil. Globo’s Pedro Garcia added: "It makes us proud to see interest in Brazilian productions growing across different markets. For decades, we have been dedicated to sharing the richness of our culture with the world. By combining that experience with Netflix’s global scale, we take another step toward bringing Brazilian creativity to new audiences, expanding the presence and strengthening the recognition of Brazilian film and television abroad."
The deal highlights Netflix’s continued investment in international originals at a time when viewers have more streaming choices than ever.
