We're seeing more ways to take charge of energy costs, and this latest move from British Gas could be a game-changer for households wanting a home battery without a big upfront hit.
What's on offer
British Gas has partnered with Sunsave to supply and install a 10kWh battery and inverter. You pay nothing upfront, and the kit can be fitted in just a few weeks. Customers then pick from two fixed tariffs:
- Store&Save: 11p/kWh anytime rate – the lowest fixed rate we've seen in the market right now, with potential savings up to £640 a year.
- Store&Reward: 22p/kWh plus a £37.50 monthly bill credit for 24 months that covers the battery cost, delivering up to £190 in net savings.
Both tariffs let British Gas manage charging so you get cheaper power when you need it. The battery works even if you don't have solar panels.

Things to check
The deal comes with a 10-year product warranty and workmanship guarantee, and you own the battery outright. It's aimed at homeowners (not renters or flats) and subject to a soft credit check. Fair-usage limits apply too.
