The deal
Netflix and SEGA have announced a multi-title collaboration that starts with a feature film of the 1999 arcade hit Crazy Taxi. Writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, behind the 2025 Naked Gun reboot, will handle the script. Producers Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara are attached.
The wider slate
Two further projects are already in development. An animated Sonic series aimed at upper pre-school viewers is on the way, while STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, from the Like a Dragon team, will become a live-action film set in early 20th-century Japan. The partners say the three titles will span comedy, kids animation and crime drama.

“Great games already have what every adaptation is chasing — characters people love, worlds they know by heart, and fandoms that show up,” said Brandon Riegg, VP of Nonfiction and Transmedia at Netflix. SEGA’s Shuji Utsumi added that the company is proud to see its properties treated with craft across formats.
What it means for viewers
The projects join Netflix’s existing game adaptations such as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Devil May Cry. UK subscribers can track new additions on our tv hub. No release dates have been confirmed yet, and the first Crazy Taxi film is still in early stages.
