Netflix's Latest Sports Project
Netflix has started production on a feature-length documentary about Marta, the Brazilian footballer widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the women's game. Filming is already underway as she trains for her last FIFA World Cup with the national team, scheduled for 2027 in Brazil.
What Viewers Can Expect
At 40, Marta brings 25 years of experience to the project. The film will include unseen footage and interviews that trace her journey from early club football in Brazil through spells in Sweden and the United States. It will focus on her final home World Cup and the fans who have followed her career, which includes six FIFA Best Women's Player awards and the all-time scoring record for the Brazilian national team, men and women combined.
Production Details
The documentary is being made by Brazilian company Conspiração Filmes under director Eliza Capai. The team has already collected early access to Marta's preparations, giving the project a behind-the-scenes feel that should appeal to both football fans and viewers who enjoy character-driven sports stories.
