The historical backdrop
Netflix will release the eight-episode series Under Siege on 6 November 2026. The drama draws from the real events of 6 and 7 November 1985, when an M-19 guerrilla group seized Bogotá’s Palace of Justice and took more than 300 people hostage, including Supreme Court justices. Colombian Army forces later retook the building. The story follows the siege, the retaking and the families who spent more than twenty years seeking justice for the 94 people killed or disappeared.
Production and cast
Filming took place mainly in Bogotá on a purpose-built set larger than 4,000 square metres that required three months to construct, including a 30-metre recreation of the original façade. The series is written by Natalia Santa, Enrique Videla, Enrique Lozano, Jenny Ceballos and Estefanía Piñeres, directed by Jayro Bustamante, Edgar Nito and Samir Oliveros, and produced by Dynamo. Lead cast members include Natalia Reyes as Pilar Navarrete, Carlos Manuel Vesga as Colonel Alfonso Plazas Vega and Robinson Díaz as President Belisario Betancur.
How to watch
You will need an active Netflix subscription to stream the series from its release date. Our TV section lists current plans and any new content bundles that may appear around the launch. The show suits viewers who follow factual or political dramas and are comfortable with Spanish-language productions and subtitles.
What the small print says
No extra charges apply beyond the standard subscription, and the full eight episodes drop on the same day. Viewers outside the UK may see different availability depending on local licensing, so it is worth checking your account region settings before the date.
