Overacting Hits Netflix Next Month
We’ve just seen the main trailer for Overacting, a Thai comedy that turns fake police missions into full-blown action mayhem. The film follows a retired cop whose fading memory pulls his daughter and her friends into increasingly ridiculous staged crime busts that spiral out of control. Real police and an old enemy soon complicate everything. It lands worldwide on 5 November.
Big Production and Star Chemistry
Director Prueksa Amaruji and executive producer Rergchai Poungpetch assembled Thailand’s comedy favourites Teng Terd Terng, Bow Maylada Susri, Kong Huayrai and Joke So Cool for roles that flip their usual personas. Teng plays a dad cop, Bow a provincial girl on a heartfelt mission, Joke an aged-up villain and Kong a traffic cop. Rergchai said the team had “no creative boundaries” and drew on Bollywood energy to create “pure, feel-good entertainment” that lets viewers “leave all their stress behind.”
What Viewers Can Expect
Teng called the elaborate Indian-inspired market set and wirework one of the most demanding shoots of his career, even asking for higher rigs for bigger impact. Bow noted her character’s comedy comes from “outrageous lengths out of pure love for her family.” The result is a high-energy spectacle aimed at anyone wanting escapist laughs rather than serious drama.
